Cape Toi
都井岬
On the most southerly point of Miyazaki, Cape Toi juts out into the Philippine sea. The cape is known for its wild horses, called Misaki-uma, said to be descendants of the horses bred for samurai from 1697. These horses roam free in a protected area. You can watch them, but you shouldn't approach them. Nearby, Toi-Misaki lighthouse has extensive views across the region and out to sea. The cape is also known for the forest of around 3,000 rare native cycad plants that grow here.
