Aoshima Shrine

青島神社

From the mainland, Aoshima Shrine is hidden from view amongst palm trees and tropical greenery on the small island of Aoshima, accessible by bridge. The main approach to the shrine is marked by a large red torii gate on the beach, next to the rock formation known as the Devil's Washboard. It is known as a lucky shrine for marriage, and is a popular location for Shinto wedding ceremonies. You can stroll around the 1.5 km circumference of the island in about twenty minutes.
