Kanosuke Distillery
嘉之助蒸留所
Since 1883, Komasa Jyozo has been crafting shochu in Kagoshima. Building on this legacy, they established the Kanosuke Distillery in 2017 to apply their expertise to crafting whisky. The distillery draws inspiration from Kanosuke Komasa, their second-generation president who created Japan's first barrel-aged rice shochu, Mellowed Kozuru.
Kanosuke Distillery utilizes three unique pot stills, each with varying neck shapes and angles, to produce a diverse range of flavorful whiskies. These whiskies have quickly earned international acclaim, garnering awards and establishing Kanosuke as a rising star in the world of Japanese whisky.
The distillery offers tours (reservations required) where visitors can witness the whisky-making process, observing the stills and fermentation tanks firsthand. The tour concludes at The Mellow Bar, boasting a stunning view of the East China Sea and a 10-meter single-slab counter where guests can enjoy a whisky tasting.
