Kikaijima Island, surrounded by a clear turqoise sea, is a remote island in Kagoshima Prefecture, located approximately 25 km east of Amami Oshima Island. This unusual island was formed by the uplift of coral reefs and continues to rise by an average of about 2 mm per year, attracting worldwide attention for its unique geology.
