Located in the Amakusa Islands, Amakusa Shimoda Onsen Boyokaku Inn not only offers a swimming pool, hot spring baths and dining, but also provides views of the sunset over the East China Sea — a view which has been selected as one of the "100 Best Sunsets" in Japan. You can spend an evening simply watching the sun as it slowly sets over the sea. The accommodation features stylish touches such as "chalk art" that tells the story and culture of the local region as well as the Portuguese-influenced Horizonte restaurant which also reflects the trading history of earlier times. According to the inn's owner Fujimoto Keiko, Shimoda's local water is very soft on the skin and the perfect temperature for long onsen soaks.
